“They’re like 150-pound cats…” That’s how the director at an alpaca farm describes the big, furry, and curious creatures. Lorrie Heber helps tend to the 35 alpacas living at the Sisters of Providence of Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, which are shorn yearly for their luxurious fiber. She says that the alpaca farm, which is open to visitors and sells products made from alpaca fiber, helps people to realize the interconnectedness of all creation.
