War and terrorism have caused over a hundred thousand Iraqi Christians to flee from their homeland. But they have found consolation by celebrating their faith and culture in the unlikely small town of Carey, Ohio. The town is home to a shrine dedicated to the Virgin Mary, and welcomed about 5,000 pilgrims, mostly Iraqi Christians, for a candlelight procession and Mass on August 14.
