Light Up Your Livestream

So you are considering livestreaming your event. Great! We have a full webinar just for you! In the meantime, one key factor to consider is light. Human eyes can see in the dark much better than your camera can, so you may need to make additional adjustments in order to successfully broadcast to an online audience. If there is not enough light, your livestream will appear grainy, muddy, or downright indistinguishable. More light is always better, and, just as importantly, try to keep your lighting even.

#ProTip: More light is better and even lighting is key.

Your eyes can adjust to different brightnesses seamlessly. Cameras cannot. Picture a stage with a stationary spotlight in the center: The center of the stage is much brighter than either side. So if someone moves into that spotlight, the camera must be adjusted to account for that extra light, or the person will be overexposed. If the person paces back and forth, in and out of that spotlight, it becomes impossible to follow them with a correct exposure, they will either to too dark, or too bright. So when you are planning your livestream, take the overall lighting into account, and adjust to keep it relatively even across the space. That, or tell your on-camera personality to stand still. :slightly_smiling_face: We'll talk more about lighting -- and a trick to ensure that your on-camera personality stays put -- on the webinar.
